The beach of Kolona is the most beautiful place to swim in Kythnos island, Cyclades. Kolona is actually a narrow strip of sand that connects the main island of Kythnos with the neighboring islet of Saint Minas. Therefore this strip of sand actually creates two beaches to swim, on one and the other side of the strip.
Kolona beach in Kythnos is not organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, although it receives many visitors. This is actually the most popular beach on the island and can be accessed by private means or boat from the port of Merihas. Many private yachts also moor in Kolona in summer, making it a very cosmopolitan beach.
A couple of taverns are found on the hill above the beach of Kolona, while a very beautiful and more secluded beach called Fikiada is found few meters before Kolona.
