Faros beach in Sifnos island, Cyclades: Located on the south eastern side of the island, Faros was the main port of Sifnos until 1883. Today the marina hosts small fishing boats and private yachts. Faros took its name from the lighthouse that is found at the port, next to the Monastery of Stavros. From there, visitors can take a breathtaking view to the Aegean Sea and the famous Monastery of Chrissopighi, protector of the island.
Faros is a beautiful coastal settlement with three continuous beaches: Fassolou, Faros and Glifo. From Glifo beach starts the most popular hiking path of Sifnos, which leads to the picturesque villages of Kastro and Exambella. Once Faros was a vivid settlement of ceramists, but today very few ceramic workshops work still. The central beach of Faros is lined up with many fish taverns, cafeterias ansd beach hotels, creating a nice tourist place to stay during your holidays in Sifnos.
