Vathy beach in Sifnos island, Cyclades: Vathy is a large bay on the south western side of Sifnos island. In fact, this is among the largest beaches in Sifnos. With golden sand and crystal shallow waters, this is a great place for families with kids who can play safely at the sand. Part of the beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, while there are also delicious fish taverns and seaside studios.
On the way to Vathy, you shall meet nice monasteries, such as the Monasteries of Fyrogia and Taxiarches. You shall also find the hill of Agios Andreas that hosts the most important archaeological site on Sifnos island. The ancient site of Agios Andreas shows that Sifnos was continuously inhabited from the Mycenaen to the Hellenistic times. Excavations there have brought into light a large part of the 12th century BC Mycenaen wall and ruins from five residences.
