One of the most picturesque villages in Kefalonia is Assos. Located on the northern side of the island, very close to the famous Myrtos beach, Assos is a nice place with colourful houses around a small fishing port and a Medieval Castle on top of the hill. This castle can be reached by foot through a paved path among lush green trees.
The port of Assos has a small beach, nice taverns and restaurants. Although the village also has some small Kefalonia hotels and apartments, it loses nothing from its traditional architecture and charm. This is a must place to visit in Kefalonia and can easily be combined with a swim at Myrtos beach.
A big thank you to the photographer Antonis Nikolopoulos for the beautiful photos
