Just outside the town of Adamas, the main port town of Milos Greece, there is a large Mineralogical Museum that was created and financed by S &B Industrial Minerals SA, a company that activates on mining in Milos. Through this special museum, a large effort is made to present the special geological background of Milos island from the prehistoric times until today.
Officially opening in 1998, the Mineralogical Museum of Milos has two floors where the main exhibitional rooms are found. The mining history of Milos is presented through photographs, paintings, video presentations and valuable collections of local stones. These mining stones consist up to date a very important economical source for the island and a mining factory is found in the region of Voudia, on the eastern side of the island.
