Best beaches and villages in Kefalonia

As this is the largest island of the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia has many villages and beaches scattered around. Although the villages in Kefalonia had traditional and Venetian architecture, this architecture was severely affected after the strong earthquake of 1953. This earthquake destroyed almost all Kefalonia villages, except Fiscardo, which is the northernmost village of the island. This is why many residences and buildings are renovated or recently-constructed.

Kefalonia is also famous for its wonderful beaches, with the crystal water and the gorgeous surroundings. Myrtos, Antisamos, Skala, Lourdas and Xi are among the most beautiful beaches in Kefalonia. However, there are many other fantastic Kefalonia beaches to explore by car or even by boat. These beaches are great places to look for Kefalonia hotels. Here are the most famous villages and beaches of Kefalonia. Each location is presented with detailed text, map and occasionally photos and close sightseeing.
